[English] Ethereum’s Shanghai and Capella upgrades, also known under the name Shapella, will be carried out in mid-April according to the Ethereum team. To support this upgrade, Bitvavo has planned maintenance of the platform on both the 11th and 13th of April. During this short period of maintenance, you will not be able to deposit and withdraw ETH or ERC-20 assets, trading remains possible. All other Bitvavo services will also continue as usual.

What is the Shapella upgrade?

Shapella is an Ethereum upgrade that will allow users to unstake their ETH deposits from Staking contracts on Ethereum's Proof of Stake network. Stakers act as validators, earning the right to validate transactions in the network by locking their ”stake” of ETH. The upgrade includes changes to the execution layer, consensus layer, and engine API.

What does it mean for you?

For users of Bitvavo, the Shapella upgrade has no consequence other than the scheduled maintenance of our platform. Here you can find more information about the Capella and Shanghai upgrade.

Maintenance

The Bitvavo platform will be under maintenance for a short period of time to support the Shapella upgrade. This is necessary for us to verify that our systems have successfully transitioned. The exact times of the maintenance are:

  • On the 11th of April 2023 from 10:00 CEST to 11:00 CEST
  • On the 13h of April 2023 from 00:00 CEST to 01:00 CEST. Please note that the timeframe for the 13th of April 2023 is an estimation. The Shapella upgrade will take place at epoch 194,048, therefore there might be a slight change in time depending on when epoch 194,048 will be reached.

During these times of maintenance, customers can not deposit and withdraw ETH or ERC-20 assets. All other services will not be affected.

[Dutch] De Shanghai en Capella upgrades van Ethereum, ook wel Shapella genoemd, worden volgens Ethereum midden april uitgevoerd. Om deze upgrades te ondersteunen, is er onderhoud aan ons platform gepland op 11 en 13 april. Tijdens deze korte onderhoudsperiode kun je geen ETH of ERC-20 assets storten en opnemen, handel blijft wel mogelijk. Al onze overige diensten kun je gewoon blijven gebruiken.

Wat is de Shapella upgrade?

Shapella is een Ethereum upgrade waarmee gebruikers hun ETH stortingen kunnen ‘unstaken’ van Staking contracten op Ethereum’s Proof of Stake netwerk. Stakers fungeren als validators en verdienen het recht om transacties in het netwerk te valideren door hun "inzet" van ETH te vergrendelen. De upgrade bevat wijzigingen in de uitvoeringslaag, de consensuslaag en de engine API.

Wat betekent dit voor jou?

Onderhoud

Het Bitvavo platform is kort in onderhoud ter ondersteuning van de Shapella upgrade. Dit is nodig om te verifiëren of onze systemen succesvol zijn overgezet. De exacte tijden zijn:

  • Op 11 april 2023 van 10:00 CEST tot 11:00 CEST
  • Op 13 april 2023 van 00:00 CEST tot 01:00 CEST. Houd er rekening mee dat het timeframe voor 13 april 2023 een schatting is. De Shapella upgrade wordt uitgevoerd bij epoch 194.048, hierdoor kan de tijd verschillen. Het is afhankelijk van wanneer epoch 194.048 is bereikt.

Tijdens het onderhoud kunnen klanten geen ETH of ERC-20 assets storten en opnemen. Alle onze andere services worden niet beïnvloed.
