1.Crypto fugitive Do Kwon sentenced to four months in Montenegro
Kwon Do-hyeong, also known as Do Kwon, the disgraced former crypto boss who is wanted in the United States and South Korea on fraud and other charges, has been sentenced to four months in prison in Montenegro. He and another South Korean national, Han Chang-Joon, were arrested in late March while trying to board a flight to Dubai.
2.Bitcoin hits new high for June as more financial incumbents signal commitment to crypto
The price of bitcoin climbed on Monday as financial institutions continued to give their bitcoin blessing. Sentiment has been high in crypto since late last week, when BlackRock, the largest asset manager in the world filed an application for what would be the first ever spot bitcoin ETF in the U.S.
3.Stablecoins, DeFi likely to be SEC’s next targets in U.S. crypto crackdown: Berenberg
Stablecoins and decentralized finance (DeFi) are likely to become the next targets in the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)'s crackdown on the crypto industry, Berenberg said in a research report. If the SEC is looking to reduce the potential for unregulated DeFi protocols to serve as viable alternatives to regulated lenders and exchanges, then they could “target the stablecoins that serve as the lifeblood of decentralized finance.”
4.Invesco reapplies for Bitcoin ETF, advocates for more crypto investment products
Investment management company Invesco (IVZ), which has $1.4 trillion assets under management, reapplied for a spot bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded fund (ETF). In its filing, Invesco argued that the lack of a spot bitcoin ETF pushes investors towards riskier alternatives, as seen in insolvencies like FTX, Celsius Network, BlockFi, and Voyager Digital Holdings.
5.Crypto firm Ripple gets in-principle payments license in Singapore
Blockchain company Ripple said Thursday it received in-principle regulatory approval to operate in Singapore, in a rare moment of good news for the cryptocurrency industry globally as it faces tightening policy in the United States. The license will allow Ripple to offer regulated digital payment token products and services and expand the cross-border transfers of XRP.

1.Crypto voortvluchtige Do Kwon veroordeeld tot vier maanden in Montenegro
Voormalige cryptobaas Kwon Do-hyeong, beter bekend als Do Kwon, is in Montenegro veroordeeld tot vier maanden gevangenisstraf. Hij werd in de Verenigde Staten en Zuid-Korea gezocht op grond van fraude en andere aanklachten. Hij en een andere Zuid-Koreaan, Han Chang-Joon, werden eind maart gearresteerd net voor hun vlucht naar Dubai.

Stablecoins en gedecentraliseerde financiën (DeFi) zijn waarschijnlijk de volgende doelen in het harde optreden van de Amerikaanse Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) tegen de crypto industrie, zei Berenberg in een onderzoeksrapport. Mogelijk wil de SEC het potentieel voor niet-gereguleerde DeFi protocollen verkleinen om als alternatief te dienen voor gereguleerde uitleners en exchanges. In dat geval zouden ze ‘zich kunnen richten op de stablecoins die de levensader van DeFi zijn.’
4.Invesco doet opnieuw een aanvraag voor Bitcoin ETF, en pleit voor meer crypto investeringsproducten
Investeringsmaatschappij Invesco (IVZ), die 1,4 biljoen dollar aan assets onder beheer heeft, diende opnieuw een aanvraag in voor een spot bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded fund (ETF). Invesco voerde in de indiening aan dat het ontbreken van een spot bitcoin ETF investeerders naar risicovollere alternatieven duwt. Dit is te zien in faillissementen zoals FTX, Celsius Network, BlockFi en Voyager Digital Holdings.
5.Cryptobedrijf Ripple krijgt in principe betalingslicentie in Singapore
Blockchain bedrijf Ripple zei donderdag dat het in principe wettelijke goedkeuring heeft om in Singapore te opereren. Het is een zeldzaam moment van goed nieuws voor de crypto industrie wereldwijd, aangezien het beleid in de Verenigde Staten aangescherpt wordt. Met de licentie kan Ripple gereguleerde digitale betaaltokenproducten en -diensten aanbieden en XRP over landengrenzen versturen.
